How on Earth consoles (namely the xbox 360) can produce such stunning graphics, sound and gameplay running a game directly off a disk..yet with the PC you still have to install massive amounts of data to your HDD.

Why is that?

PC games could easily do that except that PCs generally use a lot higher resolution textures so the game would take forever to load.
