I've been asked a few times so here's a shoulder update.

I've had a couple of people PM me over the last few weeks asking how my shoulder is and seeing as today is my four year shoulderversary, I thought I'd post a short update.

My movement hasn't improved from before so I do think that this is it, it's not going to get any better. I can reach about 20°-30° above the horizontal but it's very uncomfortable. I can just about reach to my wallet in my back pocket. The stupid thing is that I know I can only do this but I still automatically try and do more, every single day. I'll open a cupboard and reach out to take something out and get my arm well into the 'ouch' zone before I stop. Reaching out to the side makes it twinge.

Due to the torn rotator cuff, I have very little strength in that arm. It was discovered after the event and I was told that it's so badly torn that it won't heal by itself. I was offered surgery but was advised against it because of the work I'd already had done with the plate being fitted.

On the pain scale of one to ten, my shoulder is a constant six. All the time. I took painkillers for a long time but I really didn't want to keep doing that forever so I weaned myself off. It's something I just live with now. I don't like it but I think it's the best way forward rather than filling myself with strong painkillers every day.

My tongue still feels the same. I described it previously as though there's a dull razor blade sitting on the surface of my tongue and I still think it's the same, the feeling hasn't changed at all. My mouth gets very dry, very quickly. I wake up every day with a very uncomfortable, dry mouth.

I wasn't going to post this as I'd rather look forward than backwards but I have been asked. I'm not specifically after sympathy, I'm not looking for attention but just reporting the facts and the current situation. It sounds awful but I just live with it now.

Apart from this, everything's just peachy :)

Oh dude... I feel for you.

8 or 9 years ago I broke my back, every day is a struggle to get out of bed. Constant pain of 4-5.
I'm lucky I can walk, run and do normal stuff, if I ignore that pain.
Also Covid killed most of my taste. And its still broken now 2.5years on.

I feel for you, and feel like I know what you're going through.

Keep strong!

This might sound a bit out there, but I had a shoulder injury that wouldn't heal, not as bad as this but it prevented me doing any serious exercise. I switched to the carnivore diet and it's completely resolved and I'm back lifting weights. It may or may not help with something as serious as this but just thought I'd throw this out there as it's been a complete game changer for me - I had pre-diabetes, hypertension getting in to the 150's, arthritis in one hand and this has all gone for me now, even after just a few months.
