...So i've decided to start using up some spare time messing about with graphics and stuff and was wondering what people would recommend as a program to use instead of photoshop until i can get a copy of it. I'm using a mac btw.

But i'll probably use the trial of photoshop too but would like a free alternative if one exists and is worth using.
 
If you're on Windows, then it should only be 8MB for The Gimp application, and then another 6MB for the GTK runtime libraries to run it in Windows.

Not sure where you're downloading it from, because that doesn't sound like the Gimp you're downloading. Get it from here: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

/edit - sorry just re-read the first post - yeah, looks like 85MB for the Gimp and all the required libs for OSX.

I've got a Photoshop Elements disc ( perfectly legal, bundled with a camera i bought) which i have not used.

It's at my old house at the mo , if it's mac compatible ( which unfortunately i don't remember it is ) I'll contact you and post it off.

Cheers Mark :) Downloading photoshop just now, will get stuck into it tomorrow. I'm sure i'll be asking a few things :p

Will have a play about with gimp til i get photoshop.
 
Right i've been busy and finally i've got photoshop cs2 installed. Would you be able to give me some links to good tutorials to help me get started?

I know that there is tonnes if i search google, but just wondering which ones you recommend to use.
