Keep kaspersky, there is nothing better than it.

F-secure uses a modified version of the Kaspersky scanning engine, bit of trivia for you there. ;)

For free, 24 months F-secure is good.

Yes modified not exact, thats why f-secure detection rates arte lower.

Lower, but still WELL within standards. For free for 24 months it certainly isn't a bad deal.

What standards? For a lot of people nothing less than the best is acceptable when it comes to stopping viurses.

lol, with common sense and intelligent use of other free 3rd party programs you can make a computer very, very secure even with a sub-pay AV like Avast free. F-secure may not be the best but it is very good and definately worth 24 months free usage.

hmm there is a change of 0.01% to catch a virus that kaspersky can spot it and fsecure wont. And taking the first statement there is 90% chance the this virus is not a virus at all after all.
You dont need to be a genius in probabilities to choose :fsecure(or any other free s/h)

I dont see whats so funny about protecting your pc, I simply stated that a lot of people want nothing less than the best. We dont know what the op is using it for, but that 1% detection difference could cause a lot of money to be lost in certain situations.

Kasperspy never worked for me, just crashed every time it found a found a virus.
AVG borks my computer so it wont load past the windows screen.

I'm using a free trial from etrust at the minute.

Well, a lot of multi-million businesses (ie: more than a home user) run AV's a "bit" worse than Kaspersky and they're fine.

Kaspersky is only really needed if you to massive amounts of P2P, dodgy porn site surfing, warez searching etc etc... All AV's protect you against the major viruses that you are likely to encounter witn regular computer use, and F-secure is among the top rankers out of the best.

It's a damn good AV, and with it installed he will likely never see a virus if he takes the same precautions you take with any security package. Free for 24 months? Yes please.

so can you cancel kaspersky or do i need to wait out my current thingy with them

No AV supplier I know does part refunds on unused license time if the purchase isn't cancelled within 1-2 months. :)
