Some fun for your Friday...

Recently, I was sent this photograph by a rather lovely reader. The thing was taken at the Skirrid Inn - a location well known to those interested in spooky stuff. I have a connection to the Skirrid in that I wrote about it in one of my chapters, and it has a long and interesting history (worth a Wiki-read).

Anyway, I thought GD's experts (hi DickyBob) might like to have a look and offer some rational explanations. I'm particularly interested in our resident photographers' opinions and if anyone can make it clearer. Personally, I think it's intriguing, and it's a good one as far as these things go, but what do you think?

Did you spot the two 'faces'? There's a tiny bit more on my blog. It's a shame these things are often shaky and out of focus.

It's a technique I used recently at work to capture this image.

Long shutter (1/2 second), flash, disco lights and other ambient lights created some ghost-like figures whenever light hits person. If light hits a subject more than once while the shutter is open and that subject (or the camera) moves, you'll have 2 or more captures of them, making a ghost-like image.

Interesting, thanks. Just the kind of information I want. Does that also explain the point elmarko made and the second 'face'?

All I see are fat tweens who should exercise more and keep their fat noses out of the fridge, apart from the large-headed guy, top-right back who is wearing a belt around his head.

Ha! Nice.

I remember that Skirrid Inn being on Most Haunted.

If I remember rightly, the infamous Judge Jeffries used to try, convict and hang people there.

Well remembered! My research has found that link to be unproven, though. Still, a great old building.

Ignoring the fact that OP is trying to promote his book.

Well considering that I don't give my author name, book title, ISBN, or a link to a shop where it can be purchased I'm doing pretty badly on self-promotion. You'll also notice that my blog link isn't present, either. I must have special dispensation from the mods too, as they are keeping this aggressive advertising campaign open.:confused:

Some people aren't reading much of the thread before posting. I was looking for 'expert' opinions on the picture, and just sharing as something light for people to read on a Friday. I don't believe it's a ghost and have never said that. In fact, much of my past work involved researching these famous ghost stories in far greater detail than 99% of previous writers and therefore being able to call into question the veracity of most tales.
