Hi,

parents had started cleaning the oven, and whilst they were out I decided to help! So I start scrubbing the glass window, trying to get it looking good, when the glass drops through at the top of the window!

Cheap ass oven, normally the glass is attached by screws, this seems to have some sort of heat proof seal. The adhesive that was used is useless now, so I was wondering...

What type of sealant would be useable for an oven glass window? Considering it'll get quite hot..

Thanks DIYers of OCUK.

Thanks, my dads gone out to Wickes and B&Q to see what they've got, as we were meant to be having Roast Dinner tonight...

But now I've broken it, the heat is being lost from the oven.

If neither shops have it, I guess it'll have to be from screwfix.

Um, you're talking about the inner pane of glass, yes? On most decent ovens it's supposed to be removable. Take it all the way out, and figure out how it's supposed to go back in. Most likely it'll slide straight back in, no problems.

You do know that screwfix have branchs where you can buy stuff over the counter, you don't have to order it. They've got one in Yeovil and one in Taunton.

They're open till 8pm

The day is saved, roast dinner will commence as usual...

We went to Toolstation, found this

High Temperature Gasket Sealant

Gasket sealant is a durable, heat resistant one component, silicone sealant with a temperature resistance till 300°C. After application the silicone cures with atmospheric moisture to form a durable rubber seal.

On the container it says its suitable for ovens / glass.

What is the curing time on it thought. Silicone usually has a curing time of around 24 hours so maybe no roast dinner
