I've Come back to the 360 after 2 years out...not impressed!

So after two years out of the loop I thought I'd re-invest in a 360.

Firstly what's all this drab about the console being quiet? Still sounds like a aeroplane is setting off in my room at times.

With regards to games I purchased Battlefield Bad Company 2 which I've been less than impressed with.

My friend lent me Modern Warfare 2, what the hell is up with this game? The map design on multiplayer is a joke, every building has about 12 windows and there's no way of playing the maps tactically. Half the time I spawn about 10 yards from the opposition?

I've been playing FIFA 11 a bit, but for my tastes it's far too arcady. What happened to the good old days of PES? I downloaded the demo for that and it feels like it's just trying to emulate FIFA.

Looking for a decent FPS on the 360? Call of duty 2 is amazing but unfortunately it's a little dated now, I've spent so many hours on that game that I'd rather not return to it. How is Call of Duty - World at War?

Are you installing your games? If it's still noisy then there's something wrong with your console.

It's just the sound of the disc spinning, install the games to the HDD and the noise will go away.

Hmm if I can install games to the HDD, surely everyone buys games and sells them on!?

LOL, no you still need the disc in the drive for the 360 to verify it before launching the game.

haha, knew Microsoft weren't that stupid. Seems a bit of a cop out though, the only way they could control the noise of the disc spinning is by installing it on the actual HDD :\

Guess the disc has got to spin!

Lol yea they to loud install them makes it bit better but.

I prefer Blackops / World at war treyarch make better maps in my opinion

World at wars great fun not sure if many people play it now as I have black ops which is great, as for other FPS only one I can think of is Halo? What about trying PS3 ? Much more silent has some nice ranger of FPS, MAG, Killzone 2, Resistance?

Yeah, treyarchs map design isn't a patch on infinity wards. You're pretty much open to fire from every direction all the time and with banana bullets following you behind cover, the maps may as well all be open fields

Excellent game though, very well balanced, kicks mw2 out of the window.
Yeah, microsoft are still using cheap noisy dvd drives. They will forever be money grubbing c words.
Why didn't you like bad company 2? Just out of interest. I have to admit that it's better on pc but it's great on xbox too. One of the best games of last year.
Is this you coming back to gaming in general or from pc?

The sole reason I didn't get a ps3 was because pretty much all my mates play online with the 360.

That and the fact that the ps3 controllers and FPS are just a giant no no.

So what would your game recommendations be? I'm struggling to find any games that I really want to get my teeth into. Batman Arkham Asylum should be here tomorrow though.

Dragon Age Origins is my favourite game on xbox, if you fancy an RPG I can't recommend it enough.

I apologise for my condescending tone btw but you do support Chelsea

I can barely hear my 360 S even if a disc is spinning, so something must be up or you're playing on mute.

I sit about 4 feet away from my console.

My PS3 is quieter than my 360 (neither are audible over my TV at low volume, though), it doesn't mean I'd recommend it over a 360. :S

I would recommend it over xbox 360 not for the noise lvl just the Great range of 1st party games,blu ray player & full 1080p HD, there are both great consoles, The PS3 just suits me better prefer the games don't like Halo but love Gears of war
