I took the leap, I have bought the EVGA 970 Superclocked. I have spent about £600 on upgrades, GPU, Water Cool for CPU, 750W Bronze Corsair PSU and some new "Nearly Silent" fans.

I went for this one because of the overwhelming reviews and the "Superclocked" in the title, who says marketing doesn't sell :D

Am I right in thinking the "Overclocking" work has already been done, or can more be squeezed out of this baby?

Also - Would I be stupid running a SLI between this and my old 1gb Eadion 6700? (I guess it would be, but SLI is very new to me) My board supports it and has 2x PCIE 2 slots

Also, forgot to ask, my current setup crashes (Power off) when running 3DMark and when it reboots I get bios beeps (2 then 6)

Is this likely to be solved by the new GPU?

You need to look at your motherboard manual and see what the beeps represent. There's always room to squeeze more out of a gpu if your willing to put a bit of time it to it. If your rebooting after running 3d mark it could suggest bad gpu, unstable cpu or even bad ram. Have you checked the windows dump file after the crash or look for fatal errors in the history?

Its not a crash in windows, it kills the power instantly after about a minute in the 3DMark.

I will have a look in the mobo manual.

Edit: The motherboard manual says nothing about beeps - ftp://europe.asrock.com/manual/P55 ProUSB3.pdf

Yes it does, I never thought to check. I will try and reproduce the fault and see what comes up

Update.... Sod's law dictates the 3rd time I run it (Failed first and second time) it actually runs! It's giving the fan's a nice workout too:D
