Albeit an unwanted one.

I've got one of those bloody thunderflies walking around under the plastic planel on my monitor. It's not so bad on this forum, given the blue background, but any website where the background is white sends the little fella into overdrive.

Any tips, of the sensible nature, on how to get the bugger out?!?

how old is it? return dsr or rma,its no good having a fly inside your monitor is it? just hope it doesnt die smack bang in the middle of your screen

It's over two years old now. I guess the only option is to hope it crawls into a corner and then squash it.

I did want a 27" IPS but not this soon..

or put up a desktop picture of a window and hope it fly's free?:D

is it hard to take the back panel off? it might have a gap to fly out

No worries, good luck getting it sorted. Be careful stripping the actual panel as in my experience they contain a lot of layers that you can damage if not careful. Take your time and leave plenty of room to work :)

EDIT - I know this is for replacing CCFL's on a laptop, but it should give you a rough idea of what you will encounter when stripping the panel...

Thunderflies are attracted to lightsources...switch your monitor off and put a desk lamp on the side of your monitor with the beam on your montor...leave overnight....check results in the morning. If still there in the morning try different angle and repeat; hope this works.

I've not seen the little guy for over an hour so he's either asleep, dead, escaped or he's found a lady thunderfly in the back somewhere.

Fingers crossed he's gone for good.
