I've got a real conundrum for you guys

OK, see if you can work this out :)

My absolute fave CS server in the world is NARCHAN DEATHMATCH.

The ip is 81.19.219.131:27035

My internet connex is absolutely sick. I ping like 5-10 to most UK servers, and i used to ping 5 to my fave server.

BUT SUDDENLY, it went from pinging 5 to pinging 80... overnight!

And it hasn't fixed since. The one thing that does change is after about 2am it goes back to a ping of 5. It doesn't make a difference how many people are on the server, as now its full with 24/24 and i'm still on a 5 ping. But when I try this tomorrow lunchtime it'll go up to 80.

Please help! I love this server and its winding me up!
 
It will just be network congestion or contention during peak times.

What ISP/Network you on? By those pings i'm guessing it's sitting on JaNET or something as quick.

I'm on ASK4. Yeah apparently it is sitting on JaNET thats what the dude at ASK4 told me. Also said they are the fastest in the UK :P but that bit could have just been sales pitch :P

Surely contention would be higher at say 8pm than 12pm ? Its a residential network mostly so I'm guessing most people are at work.
 
That tracert doesnt use JaNET. But it probably uses JaNET for some of it's peering.

Most people, especially students will be up at stupid o'clock downloading crap so that would be why.

I'd be inclined to say it's not an issue with the server.
 
What do my results show though? I'm pretty conufsed. Can anybody else post a tracert with similar results to the above poster? I wonder why something like this would happen over night :(
 
Now my connex uses JaNET. It's defo down to contention if it varies at certain times during the day.

btw, the problem doesnt always have to be on your connection. It can be part of the route. It looks like as soon as it hits LINX it starts to slow down.

Paying £15 for a link directly into JaNET is a great deal. A ping of 80? Good luck complaining about that.
