Got the itch to do a build, problem is i dont particularly need one - but i've got a voucher (at a competitor albeit) to get 15% off, saving £100.

Help me see the light!

Atm im on a 2500k, amd 6670, 8gb ram, mitx board in a prodigy.

i could upgrade to a 4670k, g1 sniper matx, gtx 660, and a fractal 605 (to fit with my av stuff) for £530 delivered.

Use it for a HTPC, and gaming at 1080p.

Ok. As most threads in this situation, there isn't much point upgrading to haswell. Although there may be some performance increase, IMO, the difference is not worth it and can be minimal. The 2500k is a great overclocked, what are you running it at, what board and cooler do you have?

My recommendation would be to get a nice overclock, 4.5 ish, and wait for the new AMD cards to come out in around 2/3 days.

I dont think theyre "coming out" till late October?
They're "unveiling" it but not releasing?
Happy to be corrected though :)

So we heard.

Either way they will be out before the year ends which will sculpt the prices but have to agree with snips post - there's no real point in upgrading for this itch so here have some cream. :D

As snips says overclock your 2500k to around 4.5 with a decent cooler and if you want a new gpu don't wait at the moment they are cheap but they are likely to go up in price or if they don't the new gpus are likely to be not a great improvement over the last gen but for 25% more cost to you.
