I can boot into windows with it no problems
installing a new motherboard at the moment, so ill give it ago on the new machine later

wish I was in your position, it would've saved me £400!
an i7 is an i7, the early ones are still great imo, the graphics card is the important component if you want to game. and at least 8GB RAM if using Windows/7/8/10 64 bit.
