I've just ordered 2 1GB sticks of the GeIL PC2-6400 RAM with the nice juicy timings of 4-4-4-12. I already have 2 1GB sticks of Kingston PC2-5300 with the not-so-juicy timings of 5-5-5-15. My question is this:
Should I just stick the new RAM in together with the old stuff and run 4GB at PC2-5300 speed and 5-5-5-15 timings? Or should I simply replace the old RAM with new, thus running 2GB at PC2-6400 speed and 4-4-4-12 timings? Which would yield the greatest performance?
I'm running XP 32-bit, so I'd only be able to make use of (I think) 3.2GB of RAM even if I did use the two types together. The rest of my spec is in my sig.
