And they are Arsenal.

If they don't win the league this year it will be a tragedy. Some of their football was sublime, to the point where I was applauding them instead of Liverpool. First to every tackle and loose ball, always a spare man. Hunger and desire to win. Arsenal deserve it this year.

A 1-1 draw with the best footballing side in the league is more than Liverpool fans could have hoped for given our recent run of results. But the football that Arsenal played just made a mockery of anything I have seen at Anfield in the last few years.

If Chelsea or the Mancs win it this year it will be a travesty. Arsenal played some boss footy and deserve the league.

El Voz has spoken :)

How can you say arsenal deserve it more, they are only a game in hand ahead of ManU and manu had their worst start for years.

Because I have watched football at Anfield for over 20 years. Arsenal play some brilliant football and if they continue to do so they will win the league.

Man U play some lovely stuff but I have never seen a side come to Anfield and play like they were the home side as Arsenal did today. Closest to them was Valencia in the 2002 champions league game.

Man U and Chelsea have never ever come to Anfield and played like it was their ground. Ever.

chelsea were pretty impressive when they won 4-1 at anfield in oct 05

No they weren't! They beat a side with Djimi Traore in it. They scored 4 breakaway goals and plodded along for the rest of the game. They didn't boss the game at all.

They didn't look that impressive come the semi-final of the champions league in May '05. Or May '07 for that matter.

You what?
Arsenal were okay today, but not brilliant. It was all interchange and no product. What makes you think Man Utd don't play brilliant football?

From watching them. Unfortunately I am working in London these days so have to watch a lot of manc and chelsea games. Arsenal play miles better footy than those two.. Man U play some good footy but only against the weaker sides. Chelsea don't ping it around with the confidence that Arseanal do. Rooney and Tevez are class but Carrick and Hargreaves can't even get a game for England. And England are rubbish!!!

Only against the weaker sides? We can only play who's infront of us and we've beaten Tottenham and Chelsea this season. We've beaten Roma and Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League. We've scored 16 goals in 4 games.

As for Hargreaves not getting a game for England? I think you're incredibly uninformed, unaware, blind, bias or just being stupid. He has played every game for England since the World Cup bar when he's been injured of which yesterday was his first game back since a long layoff.
Arsenal don't play Football any better than us. We were quite simply the best team in the league last season (by a long way) and in the last few Premiership matches we've also been the best. We've had serious injuries this season as well as new faces.
Carrick was the lifeforce in the middle of the pitch last year for us after Christmas, his performances were World Class. He started poor this season, but after a Man of the Match performance against Chelsea (one of those 'poor teams' you were on about earlier, clearly) then a strong performance against Roma until an injury put him out.

Edit: As of only playing well against the small sides, could you please inform me of the top sides Arsenal have beaten this Premiership season?

Meanwhile, Liverpools only top performance of the season was against the side currently holding the Premiership up, Derby. So you might want to look at yourselves before commenting on only performing against rubbish sides.

Hook, line and sinker ;)

lets be fair, Arsenal do look very good, as it happens though i agree with you and think that they need another season and maybe 1-2 more players. As i said though i'll happily stake my pride that we score more than and finish higher Arsenal this season. oh and that we'll manage to beat liverpool at Anfield.

it sounds like I'm Arsenal bashing here and i'm really not because i think they've played some quality stuff so far this season. i'm more in disbelief at this thread. Liverpool with all that history and tradition with such high hopes and big spending already counting themselves out? seriously? (i know not all liverpool fans but i'm going on thread starter). is that what it's come to when you can say considering our form a 1-1 draw is all we could hope for really AT ANFIELD! and counting the title race as United or Chelsea winning it would be a travesty. I take it from that the thread starter doesn't believe Liverpool are in the title race unless obviously he thinks Liverpool play better football than united or chelsea.
You're only 6 points behind! you've spent loads you all go on about your CM and Torres. you're still in it, where's the spirit, fight and pride gone? You played right into Arsenals hands today and you need to get it together but seriously you're Liverpool, you're the most successful club in english history get some perspective and get behind your team.

I've watched enough footy in my life to know when a team has it an when a team doesn't. The current Liverpool side does not possess enough quality to win the League.

Standing crammed in on the Kop back in the 80s it was a pleasure to watch the likes of Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge. Every player in the 86 side oozed quality. It was almost a game amongst me and my mates to bet how much we would win by that week. Rush, Dalglish and Hansen were coming to the twilight of their careers just as I started to watch footy. You could say I have been spoilt, but as a result you just get to know when a side has it and a side doesn't

Sadly, the current Liverpool side just doesn't have it. We have one world class player, a great center half and a good goalie. The likes of Riise, Crouch, Arbeloa and Kuyt just do not cut it.

I've been all over Europe supporting the Reds and will be behind them till the day I die. But as someone who loves football, I have the ability to turn around and hold my hands up and admit when other sides are better.

I would love them to prove me wrong but I can see Arsenal rolling Man U over at the weekend. Man U doing Liverpool home and away and Arsenal doing Liverpool at the Emirates. Nevermind about Chelsea. It's between Arsenal and Man U.

Today is not the day for insensitivities to liverpool fans but tomorrow i'd like YSMN to get in here and prepare to suck it up ;)

Whoops, I put this year in my OP. I meant next year :D. To be fair, it was one of those threads where you could make a post and then sit back and watch the show ;)

Joking aside, Arsenal were flying at the start of the season and looked miles better than United. To an extent they still do play more pleasing football to the eye than United but have suffered a horrific dip in form at just the wrong time.

Fair play to the guys down the East Lancs road who will pick up the league this year. You're still rubbish though :p
