And ive just read a few threads on the Intel E6300 processor and its surprising performance.

My first question is: Can anyone please link me to some games benchmarks for it ?.

Secondly, as ive heard its generally as fast as a X2 4800+ im considering this as an upgrade from current system (if its good for gaming):

AMD 64 3000+ Winnie (2.4Ghz)
Asus A8N-SLI
1GB Geil Value RAM
6600GT (600/1200)

Of course i would notice more if i coupled it with a 7800GT and 2GB of RAM on a new mobo, but just CPU wise how much of a performance gain would i notice?.

Do you think the processor would be good for games in the future such as:

Medieval 2 Total War
Stalker (if it ever comes out!)
Crysis (i think its on PC)
and more...

I'd appreciate any input,

Thanks

Let me be the first to welcome you back then! :)

I think you would notice a huge jump in performance. Wait for more 965 motherboards to come out as they seem to be offering comparative performance to the enthusiast X975 motherboards.

You should be able to overlock that E6300 to a maximum of 2.8GHz (400fsb x 7x multiplier), then it'll be a fair bit faster than an FX62! :D

Sorry to go off topic but do you think that 400fsb is a fairly straightforward overclock for these 6300's?

I'm contenplating going down this road myself :p

Thats some serious kit there, and the potential OC sounds amazing, thanks for the info meight.

As for overclocking the chip, what are the idle and load temps at stock on the supplied fan (if you know them that is).

Im guessing i might have to replace my Akasa 460W PSU aswell, could you reccomend a decent PSU please?.

Oh and whats with the ATI X1800XT?, is that the choice of GFX cards these days, it does seem unusually cheap for an ATI card.

EDIT: Just seen the review links as i posted my message, thanks for links :D

I didn't think so at first, but some of the guys over at xtremesystems have it going. That is the maximum it will go with an 800MHz kit of RAM.

Because the stock volts are lower than everything else out at the moment, idle temps are hovering about 30 degree's (maybe lower). On full load they shouldn't hit more than 50 degrees.

Nope, stick with your Akasa if it's ATX2.0. If not, go for either:

FSP Blue Storm 500W
Seasonic S12 500W
Tagan Easycon Modular 530W

The X1800XT is the best bang for buck card around at the moment, amazing performance and visual quality for 160 notes!

Thanks,

Been looking at the GA-P965-DQ6 board and thinking of getting some of the cheaper G.Skill PC2-6400 NR RAM. I've already got a Freezer 7 Pro to stick on it and was hopefull of reaching 370fsb?

Still waiting for a few more reviews using this combo of board and chip though.

Apparently that Gigabyte board is hitting 500MHz FSB! But of course it depends on the RAM aswell. Good choice on the NR kit, t'is what i'm getting too!

It was the Realtek AL888 chip which interested me, the thought of having Dolby Digital Live and DTS connect in one chip is crazily good!

You got any links to reviews for the Gigabyte?

Cheers
