Order.jpg

:D

I'm going to be like a small child waiting for Christmas for the next two weeks!

I've also just ordered the Adobe Mastersuite + Lightroom and I will be ordering 4GB of RAM and Vista when MonkieMann lets me know how smooth his 64bit Vista install goes.

:)

I went for the wired keyboard because I don't like the small size of the wireless one. Having demoed it I decided to stick with a wired keyboard whilst I'm at my desk.

EVH, now you tell me!

I knew the extra £50 was just for phone support but I'm quite happy with that. As for your incase you should make these things known before I go and order a new laptop on the sly. :p

I'm looking forward to being a MBP club member. :D

Can anyone give me some tips as to what to do when I get it?

Should I install the new RAM before plugging it in for it's first charge?

I know I should let it fully charge before doing anything else to it.

Should I boot from CD and write zero's and then re-install Leopard before I've even booted into the OS for the first time?

Anything else I should be aware of before I start installing Vista and all my software?

Cheers

Cheers for the info Magicboy. Is that for the very first charge? just plug it in, turn it on and let it charge whilst it's doing it's thing?

I only asked about writing zeros because some of the more active bods in here do it as a rule, EVH etc...

I had thought about Fusion but the only reason I want Vista is to run games and as I understood it, bootcamp gave better performance when running games that Fusion.
I don't mind 32bit Vista, just thought if I could get 64bit it would be a bit better.

Good stuff cheers. I think it might be a perfectionist thing - clean install decided exactly what gets installed that kind of thing.

I did have a feeling virtualisation was a problem for graphic intensive programs which is why I needed it to work in bootcamp. MonkieMann has found out for me that 32bit is what I need. :)

I've just seen on Mac Rumours that "within the next few weeks" there's going to be a MBP update including the new multi-touch trackpads and Penryn processors.

Not sure whether to hold the order or not now. I was waiting till MacWorld and when they didn't announce anything for the MBP I thought the next updates would be in June which I wasn't prepared to wait for so I went ahead and ordered it.

Of course "The next few weeks" could be a month or more but even so, it's still a bit of a pain (if the rumour is true).

Hehe, I'm just a bit peeved that they made no announcement about it or anything at Macworld. You'd expect all the latest news but there wasn't a sniff of it.

I've ordered all my software and stuff now anyway so it seems a bit of a waste to have it lying around for a month or so.

I know it's still going to be a killer machine but I guess it's a case of "I want the newest and shiniest and I missed it by a month".

Ah well.
