Ive plugged everything in except for my monitor. The lead i used on my old computer (that plugged into my old graphics card) won't fit onto my new one.

And my monitor doesnt have a hdmi slot either, even though its new. I think i need a DVI-D wire or something? and the HD6950 has 2 slots, do i need to get a wire that plugs into both?

Any ideas? No ideas whats happend.

Is there a adapter in the box for the graphics card.

Looks like,

What colour is the connector from your old monitor? If it's blue, it's a VGA connector. You will need a DVI-VGA converter (is there not one in the box?) or ideally replace with a DVI-DVI cable. If it's white, it's a DVI connector. There should be a suitable port on the back of a 6950 (there is on mine).

If your new monitor has a DisplayPort (big D symbol next to the port), of HDMI connection, then you should be able to connect directly to the 6950 with the correct DisplayPort or HDMI cable.

you will need a dvi cable (dvi-d is for 120hz monitors), and you only need to use one port from you gfx card per monitor.

as for what happened i geuse your last card was vga hence you lace of cables but as you said you monitor is new im suprised it did not come with a dvi cable.

Did you ask for a operating system to be installed? can you see the Catalyst control centre in the task bar? or right click the desktop, is the option there?

I was like that lol. Still am any time I put in a new high-end game as it's the first up to par PC I've ever had haha. The feeling lasts at least a year then ;)

Indeed it does, but that first game comes long (metro for me) that you cant max everything, it makes you want to upgrade again lol...I managed to resist by leaving the country and only having my laptop, then it only took 3 months before I caved and bought a load of 480s to replace my 295s :D
