Hi guys, :)

My setup at the moment consists of a C2D 6400 @ 3.2ghz with an Asus Silent Square Cooler, Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) , ATI X1800XT 256mb Graphic Card, 2 x Sata Dvd Writers, 1 x Sata Dvd Reader, 3 x 320gig Seagate Sata Hard Drives, Card Reader, Internal USB Card and a Thermaltake 430w PSU all in a Lian-Li PC60 Case with 2 x case fans. :D

Now the problem im having is what to replace my X1800Xt graphic card with.. Obviously I want to play UT3 and Crysis when they are released so I was going to go for a Geforce 8800 Gts 320 or 640 mb?

What would I be better off getting for future games?? Also would my Thermaltake 430w PSU be powerful enough to run everything in my case? Ive read a few posts on the forums and some have simialr setups and have no problems. :(

Thanks for any help you guys can provide and all comments are welcome..

Welcome to the forums.

The X1800XT is still a decent card and runs all current games very well so why not save your cash up till UT3 and Crysis come out and get the best card within your budget then.

I would also think about buying a new PSU at the same time.

Welcome to the forums. :)

For future games like those i wouldn't get an 8 series, the 8 series are for the now, Dx9, when those games appear much better/faster cards will be out, R600 is coming backend of this month, and the 8900's are due as well which are going to be faster/better than the 8800's, and that will be long before those games as well so your best of waiting till they appear before picking up a card for them, as the 8800's will be slowest cards you can get for them, they are already the slowest Dx10 cards you can get now, and it isn't even here yet (Dx10). :)

Not sure the 8900's are coming .... and rumours I have seen indicate the 8800 ultra's to have 650/2200 clocks, not as much as one had hoped for TBH.
Again, AFAIK, the R600/X2900XT has no definite announcement for end of the month, just more speculation ....
Either way I agree, if you are waiting for those games, keep saving until the games are out then get whatever gfx is best at the time :)

Yeah 8900's were said to be coming, then it was said they were not coming as Nvidia were moving straight to the G90, then another rumour after that said the 8900's were still coming, you just have to take everything with a pinch of salt, if the 8900's are coming still then we'll only know when they are actually out. :p

I wish someone would make an annnouncement ... sitting here with 3 games unstarted, in need of a powerfiul gfx so I can run them how I like, bless the 1950 pro, it tries its best :o

The way stocks of 8800gtx's are dissapearing makes me think they are not being replaced from the makers ... which makes me think something new is on its way from the nvidia camp ...
