ive seen some gfx with hyper memory what is this?

I'm betting a fiver on stupid inflated advertising, perhaps in the hope that someone will compare two cards and go for the one with "hyper memory" :D.

Out of interest, what is the card model/make?

I m fairly sure that sounds like Nvidia..I seem to remember some Nv cards had that for some reason

Yea, same technology as linked to above.

I wouldn't exactly class it as a selling point. The 5450 has a very slow core, video memory is not it's problem. Anyway, I bet using up system RAM is no where as fast or efficient as using onboard video RAM.

Many cheaper graphic cards use system ram instead of having RAM built into the card. This is way slower than dedicated RAM - but better than nothing.

Hyper memory is a superior version of this technology - I remember seeing the first cards using it benchmarked, and it did provide a measurable gain over the old version. Still not as good as getting a beefier card, and not a worthwhile selling point in itself, but it does make a difference.

We used to get a lot of complaints on false advertising, and requests for compensation about this.

Glad to see it no longer used.

how did you come up with that username:cool:
