Ivy Bridge Launch Schedule Leaked

SHeeeesh !, another month :(

Ive been waiting and waiting with my i7 920 since december, lol, nearly crying now, dont get me wrong, I have my cpu at 4G'z so not so bad, disappointing having to wait though :(, desperate to get my new build pc bought and built, money is burning a hole in my pocket man, lol.

So you guys are saying it should be either the 3570k or 3770k that we need to go for then ?

what will be the actual name of these cpu's, Ive been waiting so long now that ive forgot completley what they will be called, would they be called i7 3570k and i7 3770k ?

Sorry for being dumb about this but as I say, just waited so long now I have lost track completely. (that box of beer didnt help much either, lol).

p.s
and I mean for the pc (not laptop).

oops, lol, silly me, I see it now here >>>

This launch will be followed by actual chips later in the month, on 29th April. These parts will, however, only be quad-core desktop and mobile parts comprising the Core i5-3450, Core i5-3550, Core i5-3550S, Corei5-3570K, Core i5-3570T, Core i7-3770, Core i7-3770K, Core i7-3770S, Core i7-3770T, Core i7-3720QM, Core i7-3820QM, and the Core i7-2920XM.

So yea I was kind of correct, i5-3570 and i7-3770.

I don't see the point of the Z77 mobos being released before the CPUs ?

who is going to buy a Z77 on the 8th ?

surely if:

(1) you already own a Z68 + Sandy- you wouldn't just upgrade Z77 - little point really would there ?

(2) if like me - you are planning to upgrade from an older CPU + Chipset - well pointless until the CPUs come out (Ivy) - you wouldn't buy a Sandy CPU just to for the sake of 4 weeks

(3) reviews will have to be re-run when the Ivy CPUs are out ? I mean I don't care how well it clocks a Sandy - its how well the mobo runs with theIvybridge cpus I care about - some features of Z77 don't work with Sandys ?

just seems a bit of a weird release timeline ?

I have been wondering for a while whether to go with Sandybridge or wait for Ivy. I rather like the overclocked kits from OCUK and the Sandybridge kits, running at 4.5GHz was what I was going to buy. Is the wait going to be worth it?

Im not buying IB either way to be honest, i just want an i5 2500k it will do everything i need and my PII 955 is getting older by the day :) Its just a matter of do i wait and see if there price drops or do i take the plunge and just get one now

Will be looking at getting one of these, should be a good jump from phenom ii x6 at 4ghz.

Hoping for a 5.5-6ghz overclock

What cooling you using??? 5.5 - 6ghz = single stage phase upwards!!! and negative numbers. Read around the forums you will see exactly this. Oh yes these clock like hell especially the IMC's which are so strong but only in the cold!!!

same here i got enough of AMD. I will go for ivy or sandy. Looking at 5ghz+ just need to see prices and benchmarks to decide what i want :D.
My 1090 is really good chip and i bet i could hit 4.4 stable with better motherboard. But im not planing to spend 150f for AMD board again.
Its all about how crap TriDef 3d software is.... Bloody thing uses one core and that kills game performance....
1core.jpg

Awesome cpu utilisation LOL. This is Wow in 3d 25 man raid. Around 10-15fps and i cant do **** about it .....

if the high temps are due to the shrunk main part of the core-under water won't make much difference - it would still get hot

a high end air cooler would get the "heat" away - ie the power output from the CPU - but the implication is the heat is not getting to the heatsink quick enough

wouldn't be any different with water

Correct!!!!

What do you think the cost will be on the 3570k ?

£185/£190. The RRP if the leaked docu's are to be believed is $10 more expensive than the 2500k which was £185 at OCUK on release. It's surprising really that the 2500k has stayed almost consistently priced since then.
