Intel Sandy or Ivy.
How much do you have to spend on the machine?
budget £200 for processor give or take
Sandy Bridge.
What are you reasons for this? Facts would be appreciated![]()
I was adamant this was the CPU for me until i read articles saying they overheat etc, now i am unsure. The i5 2500k is my second choice but i am not sure if i should buy a 2nd gen cpu when the 3rd gen has just been released it feels the same as buying a tv which is not HD Ready haha if you know what i mean
They don't overheat but heat limits your overclocking ability.
You will get 4.5GHz rather than 4.8GHz, but they are about the same speed at that clock speed.
I don't intend on overclocking anyway but the fact they run hotter makes me feel on edge
If your not overclocking then definatly go ivy.
They actually run cooler at stock speeds but much hotter when overclocked.
That has pushed me back in the direction of the ivy bridge. I am still curious as to why some people still say get a sandy bridge now that the ivy bridge is out.
Cheaper, and cooler when overclocked. But at stock, IB is a very good choice to have.
