(Ivybridge-E) Socket LGA2011

I definitely disagree that a 4770k is the best value/performance CPU. Excellent CPU though.

Sandy-E and Ivy-E are almost identical despite the theoretical slight increase in IPC of the latter. Reason is Ivy-E clocks poorly compared to SB-E. If you can get a good clocking SB-E second hand, I'd go for that over Ivy-E.

What we don't know though is what you are upgrading from and what will you be doing with the system? Gaming? Work that requires many threads? Would be helpful to know.

hi guys

Is it worth upgrading to this now or should I wait for the next generation??

I was between 4770K and 4820K. Got the 4820K because it has actually an upgrade path to 6-cores.

Is pretty much fine, clocked mine to 4800 without any drama (2 clicks 1 restart tbh) and runs cool with the H100.
