Hi,
My dad has purchased himself a shiny looking Ivybridge but we've run into a snag wiring it all up. The old system was powered by a Corsair 650W which was plugged into a Q6600 board with the ATX power and a 4-pin 12V power near the CPU socket.
It seems the Ivybridge board wants an 8-pin additional power cable and the existing PSU has 2 x 4 pin cables (which appear seperate, 2 yellow & 2 black cables going to each one) and I'm not sure if that will be OK to plug in.
Any advice? We do have another PSU that has an 8 pin power cable on it which I'd be more confident plugging in but it will be a pain in the bum to unplug it (yeah I'm lazy, deal with it
)
Cheers
