I've been running my memory at stock speeds for the past couple of years but looking to eek out some more performance. I did some experimenting last weekend which didn't go very well and resulted in me needing to recover my BIOS from the backup chip (even removing CMOS battery didn't work).
Reading online I have found various conflicting views on what settings to use so I could do with a definitive guide.
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77 D3H
RAM: 2*2GB Gskill Ripjaws PC12800 CAS7-7-7-24 1.65v, 2*4GB Corsair Vengeance PC12800 CAS9-9-9-24 1.5v
So as my starting position I have my RAM voltage set to 1.64v, 1600mhz, 9-9-9-24 2T timings. VTT/IMC on default. This seems fine. But when I start pushing the memory multiplier or BCLK I start getting stability issues.
So the next port of call seems to be potentially VTT and IMC voltages. But this is where I cannot find a consistent view online; some say these should be within 0.05v of each other but at stock they aren't even close, it's like 1.06v and 0.925v or something. Others stress the danger of playing with these on an ivybridge platform, especially when running over 1.5v VDIMM. So I am at a bit of a loss where to begin really, I feel like with the right settings I should be able to hit at least 1800mhz but I don't know what balance to be striking between the different voltages, timings etc.
