Socket 2011 seems a cul-de-sac but is still the only way to get more than a quad.

So thinking about a IB quad K with ASUS mobo + 16gb ram. The o/c gains over SB don't seem to be great due to Intel changing from solder to thermal paste under the heat spreader.

Am using Boinc for Seti/Rosetta/cpdn with F@H on the GPU most of the time with a bit of cuda for Seti.

Would I get good ppd with the SMP FAH client + Big ADV bonus?

Or should I wait until autumn for the release, of the more expensive, IB-E or whatever the hex core will be. [there's not going to be 8 core is there?]

Any input suggestions welcomed.

Thinking I may either get a cheap SB [scratch that just checked prices:(] or go with a a 3570K & see what the future holds. Considering a water cooling kit in place of air.

Thanks hanluc. I was thinking of this mobo as I only need 1 lan port.
I thought OcUK had tested 4x4gb sticks:confused: of the Samsung to 2400GHz

I have an aging Q9550 +560Ti + Corsair 850w
What PSU do you have? What are you using for CPU cooling?
