Hi all,

I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU & motherboard from Sandybridge to Ivybridge, I've done a bit of reading up and I think the i5 3570K is the one I should go for. However, I'm not too sure which motherboard I should be going for but one board which keeps getting mentioned/recommended on here is the Gigabyte Z77X-D3H & Z77X UD3H, are Gigabyte the leading boards at the moment I take it? (I'm coming from an MSI P67A-GD53 which has ran spot on in my rig for well over a year now). Could somebody recommend me a good Ivybridge board?

Thanks all - Liam

Keep what you have and save ur money mate. I went up two generations and saw a difference (i5 760 to i5 3570k). But in ur case there is no point from gen 2 to gen 3

My mate did this he went from i think a i7 930 or something. And spent £600 on a 3770k g1 Mobo and 16gb ram. When i asked if he noticed any diff, he went "nope"

Thanks everyone, looks like I will stay put with Sandybridge for now. Would it be worth upgrading the motherboard at least though for when a future worthwile Ivybridge CPU is released? (and considering how good they are for the price at the moment)

Thanks - Liam

I have not seen or read anything about any more Ivybridge chips coming or anything else to replace Ivybridge that will still use the same chipset/socket.

The next stuff called Haswell is socket 1150 so as you can gather, won't be compatible.
