Hi guys,

I've been making a personal site with iWeb and I'm thinking of making a blog on that site too - trouble is, I've been used to using Blogger for years and iWeb's way of blogging is "Create new post" and a page full of weird language is there - I have to manually remove/replace stupid picture and type - instead of "new post" and type away...

Any chance you guys know of a software which works with my .Mac site? Just simply click on that third party app, type and publish (and also be of the same template on my iWeb site?)

If not, what other method should I approach this, whilst still using iWeb as my template/site creating app?

Thanks :)

I tried doing the same sort of thing and hit a brick wall with iWeb. I just found that it didn't like me modifying the pages manually and it would replace then everytime I re-uploaded the site.

Is it possible to modify the template you are using so that the new blog entry page is as you want it to be straight away. That way you can avoid having to remove pictures and text every time you create a new page.

I can't find any thing about possible editing of the template... yet.

It's annoying having to always change "Evan's World" for the Dark Room Template each time I post a new post!

yeah i agree that iweb is not a very good blogging platform, but if they added a load of extra functionality it would be moving away from what was intended which is a simple-as-you'll-ever-see web design app that is accessible to the masses :)

but yeah, would be nice to have more of an instant blog, and also the ability to add a quick comments section underneath for people to discuss (well, maybe you can do that i havn't looked into it in much detail).

theres always the proper apps like wordpress and the like?

iWeb 08 is pretty good for doing a blog, I've managed to know one up pretty easily.

With the other solutions, particularly the free ones, do you have the same freedom as iWeb? I mean, I've got an interactive link to my photos, and a youtube video embedded in there. Can I do that elsewhere?

EDIT: Just realised how old this thread is ! Oops.

Downloading the dreamweaver trial now. Maybe a bit overkill, but it's only a trial.

:/

Download Contribute of you're going to download anything.

Dreamweaver will only be useful if you plan on making your own template, tbh.

I tried MarsEdit and it felt weird, don't seem to work well for my needs so gave up on it :p As long as I have internet connection, Bloggers is top notch for my blogging needs. (otherwise, text or Word works great too)

http://www.adobe.com/products/contribute/ ;)

Not sure what is better, never used either, was just poking around in it to see what it was myself the other day. Gotta love getting the Master Collection at student prices + more off from college.

Your site does seem loads quicker now, still dark though. :(

What can I say, I like dark! :D

Mr Jones' ok if I get a few blogger tips off you matey?

Ask away mate... I've been blogging since errm... April 2005, says my profile :p I'm so glad Google took over blogger a good couple of years ago, they made it so much more customisable (instead of fiddling with CSS / HTML for a rookie like me)

If you're good with them codings, check under template and edit the codes to make it suit you even more - i.e. change the boarders if the 640pix wide is cramping your style... (great punt? :p)

The colour scheme is almost the same as mine... (except I don't have a visited site colour, they are gay~) and I've masked my header with an image - makes it look nicer :)
