Why I ask this is that I think there is an eroding of our rights here, sure have a go at militant people from what ever religion or political organization they belong to, but all this about veils is going a bit far. If there was security concerns then yes, remove the veils where and when needed. But our rights to religious expression is being attacked here and I don't think it will end here. religious expression first then what? Our right to wear certain types of clothes? Will governments or organisations start to dictate how we live our lives, what we can say, where we can go and when?

When lives are at stake then yes we must lose some of our rights, but women wearing veils? What's next, Nuns?

I'm just thinking out loud here but would like your feelings on this...

I agree with your last sentence - if you don't respect the traditions and way of life of the UK then you won't get or deserve respect in return.

We were here first, you are the alien culture wanting to live here, so the onus is on you to fit in or leave, not us :)

But whats going on in the uk seems to make a big impact on the islamic life , works both ways Spawn.

Why is that WE have to respect them and WE have to work better with the ethnic culture yet they are having a very hard time working with us.

You don't see me going around holding up banners wishing the death of others, you don't see me going around complaining because ive just seen southpark and jesus having a poo on kenny.
 
LOL Saffy even though your comment has been removed i have to say that the £3k they offer isnt for religious purposes;)...i hope you now realise how silly you really have been in that rant and rave post you earlier typed out.

Funnily enough i received one last week for my ex wife who no longer lives here as i sent her back to Pakistan...where shes rotting away.....but imagine my surprise that they offered to send her back home for £3k..sadly i cant take advantage of the offer as it would have come in handy for a few bills i need paying but was funny nonetheless.

Ummm i dont ask to be respected, as respect is earnt imo but i cant talk for other muslims...if they demand to be respected then what is it of my concern??.
Do i come here and ask why cant you respect my faith religion...do i demand it of your fellow non muslims??...no so why ask me such an inane question to which i have absolutely no answer to..as i said i cant speak and wont speak on the behalf of other muslims...what they do and choose to say is entirely up to them even though i may not or do not agree with them.

Ahhh seen your edit...neither do i go around protesting or making death threats...whats your point or what point are u trying to get at. I agree with you when you say it should work both ways...but we know real life is nothing like that whatsoever.

The way i look at it is this:

1. Yea, you can wear what you want. No problem. But, in this day and age, covering up your face is always going to stir questions etc. Why not uncover the face if the situations asks for it? After all, you don't have to cover your face fully, do you? If it is going to ease tensions then why not just do it?

2. No rules i agree. Just a matter of curtesy.

3. Not a point of Slagging off Muslims. That is the Brainwashing that all Muslims get, being told that everyone hates them when that is just not true. I know loads of muslims and have no problems with them.

4. If that is the case why are you on here complaining?

5. See, more Brainwashing!! Get real. If you started to intergrate with the UK society and stopped believing what you are told by Islamic extremists then the UK would be a harmonious place to live for everyone!! Look whats happend in Ireland. Everyone is getting on now.

Islam / Muslim is in the news only because of what the Islamic extremists done on sept 11th. Osama Binliner has a lot to answer for. All this turmoil is down to him and his twisted views. So, it is you that needs to get over it as you put it. You, and your brothers, need to fight the extremists that are brainwashing 'your' fellow brothers and sisters.

99% of the population want harmony and the bottom line is that to get there we all have to work together. Jack Straw was only stating that he would feel better speaking to someone who does not feel the urge to 'hide behind a vail'. There is no need for the 'full vail'. This is the 21st century and sometimes things need to change for the good of all.

IMO its no more than a balaclava and if my girl walked into a garage or shop wearing a balaclava the place would be surrounded by cops in a minutes, Its just the the PC brigade are too scared of upsetting them that they dont ask them to remove it in public, Glad someone is finally pointing out thats it unacceptable.
