Jack Straw has the right idea!

It's no more in the name of Islam than a White Power organisation killing in the name all White people, we have been here before.

When 4 muslim lads blow up a train and claim it is in the name of Islam then it is quite clearly either an Islamic act or blasphemy against Islam for taking the religion in vain.
The cartoons were allegedly blasphemy and an insult to Islam.
Blowing up trains in the name of Islam must therefore also be an insult to Islam, yet no demos ...........
Hookhand preaching hate in mosques in England to muslims ...... no demos, surely and insult to Islam though ......

It seems to me that either Islam allows for the murder of innocents in its name or there are some serious amounts of blasphemy going on that the muslim community is ignoring..... why .....hmmmm

What is the worse insult to the teachings of Mohammed? Drawing a cartoon of him or murdering 50 people in his name?

There is NO way at all you can just ignore the bombings and claim that they have nothing to do with Islam when we see people going mental over a stupid cartoon.

When did anyone claim the bombings have nothing to do with Islam? I was saying the bombings have nothing to do with peacful Muslims. What is your obsession with an apology from those not responsible?

Some Muslims going mad over the cartoon was for the same reason some Christians went mad over the Jerry Spring Opera. It offended their beliefs what is so hand to understand about that?

My culture. Loyalty to country, based on christianity and with no reference to Islam. A sense of pride in the achievements of my ancestors and the great nation that we once were. A mono culture that is not interested in this "multi faith multi cultural" experiment that is causing so many people so much anguish. Aculture where women can be proud to be beautiful and are treated as equals and are not expected or encouraged to hide their natural beauty from the world.

Your Culture. Whatever it is that you believe in. Whether it is the Islamic nationalists view or some other imported world view.

Hear, Hear!

There are simply too many differences tied in to religions in the cultures we are discussing. These differences will never be resolved. If Muslims want so desperately to integrate, why take over whole areas of city's and town's housing then keep themselves to themselves?

I find it infuriating that we cannot celibrate our own culture these days without political correctness making you feel like a racist thug everytime you open your mouth.

We had the same crap with the world cup england flags been seen as racist.

The fact is, people emigrating to this country do so for a better life. If a country welcomes you, the least you can do is do your best to give something back. A little respect for that countries cultures would be a start, not ramming your own culture down throats then screaming "Paranoid", "Racist" etc when people find it a little strange.

Is it not arrogant to assume that you have an insight into a topic?

Possibly, but I have unique perspective in that I have knowledge of both sides. I have been around Muslim people most of my life. I have also mentioned before a few times my girlfriends Mother knew Mohammed Sidique Khan one of the 7/7 bomber as he worked as a teaching assistant in a school in Leeds.

For this reason I find Islamic extremism incredibly shocking, and of course it should be stamped out wherever possible, but you have to understand what you are dealing with, what good does pointing guilty fingers at the innocent and putting a unbrella label on social groups do?

The more people feel their identity is threatened the more they want to hold on to what they believe, just like those who think Britain is going down the pan, they suddenly want to make it more British again. Well if your a muslim with a strong faith you may feel the same.

I can fully understand why recently some people may feel dislike and distrust towards the Muslim community but in doing so you are not helping the problem, only making those Muslims who may want to speak out against extremism and intergrate feel more and more segregated.

So why didn't an act of extreme blasphemy (bombing tube trains, preaching hatred and murder) also offend their beliefs?

Well as this has never been a muslim country and never will be surely if muslims are feeling that way the logical thing for them to do would be to emmigrate to a muslim country wouldn't it?

Right I'm moving to Saudi and it isn't British enough so I'll stamp my feet and get angry until they build my green and pleasant land (and my local) right here in this god forsaken desert.

If they feel very strongly then yes it may be a good idea to move to an Islamic country, some have.

Seems the logical solution :)

By the way did you have an answer for this:

Yes, I believe the majority of Muslims were offended by it but i have no way of proving it, only that the ones I know were as shocked as you or I.

Well I wasn't exactly shocked or suprised. I wasn't happy about it but did not feel that anyone had insulted my religious beliefs or committed blasphemy against me.

These murders were committed by people who claimed to be muslims.

Now I recall anti war protesters with placards which said "not in my name".

I can not for the life of me understand why there was no "demo" about the bombings with "this is an insult to Islam" or similar placards when a few cartoons caused such worldwide grief.

The only logical conclusion is that Muslims weren't bothered by it and did not see it as being a blasphemous action or against Islam, or at least not as big a crime as a cartoon.....

As many said last week about the Protests have been cancelled (Atif) from what i gathered while watching the news yesterday morning, i saw Jack Straw leaving his office going to his car and the camera (mainly due to placement (being low)) showed quite a populous crowd of people Protesting and shouting remarks...

I've thus far been unable to find a decent picture of the protest regarding the veil... however i dare say one will surface at some point... and a from the news i saw (above) there was a protest that took place outside Jack Straws office
