Anyone heard this? I really like it. Very much like The White Stripes stuff - really pure, unpolished and has that sort of garage jamming quality to it.

What do we think?

this kind of comment really gets to me. is it really like the white stripes as in it's got similar production values/musical style? or am i going to go "ooh, is this the new white stripes track?"? the latter could be fatal on 2 counts. 1. the white stripes blow. 2. what's the point in starting a new band and not doing anything different with it?

The White Stripes are incredibly talented and origional. Their music is superior to most of the commercialised crap people listen to.

The progression and variation in their albums is also stunning. Whilst Get Behind Me Satan is experimental, their origional self-titled album is raw, rare Detroit-esque rock.

Not sure if I agree with original.

Are there any other 2-man bands that have shared their success?

Heard it on TV today. Not bad, bit more of a pop sound to it than the White Stripes. I could hear similarities, but I did think it had some distinction to it. As I said, not bad, wouldn't mind hearing some more of them.

Why? Name some other bands that sound like them.

The Black Crows
The Black Keys
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Blind Willie McTell
Bob Dylan
Canned Heat
The Cream
Dolly Parton
Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
Johnny Cash
John Squire
MC5
Muddy Waters
Neil Young
Primal Scream (Probably during the earlier years with the rollingstones funky stuff)
Rolling Stones
Soledad Brothers
Son House
The Stooges
Woody Guthrie
The Yard Birds
ZZ Top

It is folk, blues and rock. I can't see where the confusion comes.

Why should that be even related to originality? I had best start with a 28 man band (They only have 27) and play like the Polyphonic Spree because then I would be a different genre all together.

Edit:
I am not saying the white stripes are bad. I am just saying that they are not original! I don't mean to take a huge dump on your fire here, but I don't know why you think this revelation is a huge machete attack on the stripes....

To an extent I agree on that, yeah they are quite far away in comparison to radio playlists. :)

I still think their latest album was origional, or experimental at least! They only used the guitar in 2 tracks!

In about half of them guitar is used. Good move away, but I don't think it works too well as an album, sounds like two drunk people in some sort of chicago speakeasy. :p
