I think we need to be able to clearly separate gov2gov foreign aid from the work done by charities.It saves millions of lives. And then the long term aim is about trying to help stabilise countries so you have fewer refugees and migrants, a better trading partner in the future, etc.
What evidence is there that gov2gov foreign aid in Africa has done anything other than find its way to corrupt officials? It is the African govts who decide how to spend the gov2gov money. They don't get it all, some of it goes through the UN, etc. (The UN being known for their amazing efficiency and not wasting millions on their own bureaucracy:
