JAGUAR X-TYPE 2.5 V6

Yea it does look like a lot of metal for the money, the colour is pretty terrible though I think, that's probably why it's cheap, might even be able to get it for less with that colour.

E39 530i Sport, black, black leather, good set of eagle F1 tyres all round.

Probably where my money would go.

Just looking at those on Autotrader as well, looking for something a bit different from the small hatchbacks, the Jag looks a stunner for the money, just a shame about the colour.

Dad's got a 2.0D estate - its alright, but it feels distinctly "ford" inside.

Nothing wrong with that of course, I drive a Mondeo myself - but with a brand like that I expected more.

Pretty quiet and refined, never driven it but Dad reckons it handles quite nicely.

I have a 2003 model, great car, gives me an average of 28 mpg, and I don't hang about ;)
Group 15 insurance, lots of boot space, i have a dual 12" sub box in mine and can still fit plenty in there...
Only trouble i've had is with the remote central locking... sometime i have to re-sync the keys, no big deal!

I personally would go for the Sport as the suspension is firmer and gives a better ride than the normal jelly models :)

Ultimately, its just a flash Mondeo.

It's on what 12 owners from new and the interior is a mess though right? ;)

No idea where you get that impression from...but to clear it up, far from it.

I had a 2.5 SE for a week, the interior on these feels very cramped and I personally didn't like the way it handled but then again I am a ham fisted/club footed driver :)

Where would you £3K go?

Not on 120k 51 plate red XType.

They drive like a 4wd mondeo with leather and average 28/32 MPG depending on how you drive it. Poke it round town a little and watch it drop to low 20's, however on a steady run you'll see 35/38mpg.
Mine has now done over 100k and in the 30K miles I've done in it the only things Ive paid for is rubber and a new bulb.
