What is the general opinion between people who take an interest in cars with new ish Jaguars? Im talking specifically the F and E pace. My wife wants a new car, shes fallen in love with the F Pace, its within budget used (20k ish), we were all set and then a mechanic friend of mine said they are absolutely awful, the DPF goes on them and the electrics are pants.

I cant see anything online to back this up but he usually does know his stuff...so yea, do they tend to be poorly built? If so what similar cars would be recommended?

Something like this is what shes looking at but ideally 2019 and newer (aware will nip over budget)

Thank you

We had a 2.0 Ingenium diesel engine, we got shot of the car when it was still in extended warranty.

Due to the engine orientation the DPF is packed in and appears to be of a poor design, ours ended up needing oil changes very frequently due to oil dilution issues, i think the record was every 2k.

Fundamentally its a good engine i.e. it goes well, but i'd not touch one out of the 3 year manufactures warranty.
This is pretty much what he said aswell so clearly he knows his stuff.

I think we will have to give them a miss, its a real shame as they look great.

Funnily enough saw a post by Jaguar on FB and there are so many comments about the 2 litre ingenium engines inc one post about how someone had to replace there engine, there are too many for my liking.

Looks like ill have to up the budget and look elsewhere. Thanks, i owe a few pints!

Saving on fuel and servicing, and breakdown cover excess would cover the difference in costs, and you can get a 20 plate with less than 37k miles on for ~£20k - no idea on the whole electric worry, sounds like a made up issue to me these days, almost an irrational fear as opposed to what is was a few years ago. :)
IF i were to get an F Pace maybe.

As for the "not electric worry" Its because she has grand idea about driving through France and Spain in the summer so the idea of waiting an hour to refill is the issue.

Day to day? Perfect. I thought they were a good 5k over that, ill take a look. Thanks

EDIT

It took me 5 minutes on youtube to be sold on the ipace lmao. Thanks!
