Morning all

Is this now possible to jailbreak (5.1.1) on the iphone 4s? I would like to jailbreak mine but not sure if its available to do so. I Have a couple of questions that I'd be real grateful if anyone could answer them.

A: Is it worthwhile to jailbreak?
B: Will my iPhone become laggy and crash?

Have been thinking about changing the iPhone for the S3 but thought maybe jailbreaking it may make it a little more exciting with a few new gadgets to play with.

Would really appreciate any help :)

I'm sure it's possible to JB now on the 4s. I think a member from here made a nice site that shows you if it's possible or not, and links you to the download too.

I personally haven't jailbroken my phone, I did on my old 3G and it did become slow. I guess that could have been due to the hardware. Although it does offer more customisation then Apple offer. You could always try it and see if you prefer it or not.

Yes it is simple, it's simple for a bunch of 12 year olds so should be simple for someone on a computer forum :D!
Restoring is easy, just plug into iTunes.

I've had mine on the 5.1.1 JB since it got released, hasn't become slower - there is the occasional crash (springboard goes into safe mode and I just have to click restart, which takes 5 seconds.. then back to normal). Well worth it though!

Fantastic thank you so much :D

Just one last thing, should I back up in iTunes before jail breaking so I have a back up to restore to if needed?

How To Use Absinthe 2.0 (if you’re unjailbroken):

1. Make a backup of your device in iTunes by right clicking on your device name under the ‘Devices’ menu and click ‘Back Up’.

2. Once your backup is complete return to your device and go to Settings – General – Reset – Erase all Content and Settings. This will make the jailbreak process much faster.

3. Open Absinthe and be sure you are still connected via USB cable to your computer.

4. Click ‘Jailbreak’ and wait…. just be patient and do not disconnect your device.

5. Once jailbroken return to iTunes and restore your backup from earlier. Right click on your device name under the ‘Devices’ menu in the left panel of iTunes and click ‘Restore from Back Up…’ then select the latest backup you created before. (restoring this backup will return all the content previously on your device ie, apps, photos, etc.)

6. Thanks for using Absinthe, enjoy your jailbroken iDevice! :D

Taken from the link. I never even bother backing up (don't know why!).. I also didn't do what it said above and just did the jailbreak without erasing everything and then restoring.

Found an issue, when I receive a picture message I can't view it in full screen. Touch to open and Messages crashes back to the home screen. Hmm...
