Jailbreak worry

Hi

I jailbroke my phone yesterday with Jailbreakme 3, all went well, but today I checked my email to find 170 delivery failure reports, it seems "something" tried to send an email to every entry in my address book with a single URL to some rubbish site or other.

My worry is that my PC has been turned off during the period the emails were sent, is there a possibility that these were sent from my phone?

If so, what do I do? I've since installed the PDF Patch from Cydia, should that be enough to prevent further issues? I love what Jailbreaking has done in terms of additional functions, but if there is a security issue then I'm going to back this out straight away, hopefully one of you guys can put me straight!

I'm fairly sure you can as jailbreaking is not illegal, it just allows you to do some illegal stuff (such as gain apps for free). Personally I would never use Jailbreakme as I have heard a lot of stuff about it being unreliable. I'm not really caught up on what is the best for what version as I am still on 4.2.1 but I did it through Greenp0ison and it has worked flawlessly since doing it. If you're worried you could always google what is currently the best way, restore your phone (make sure you make a backup in iTunes first) then rejailbreak. That's just me though.

Sorry if it's not supposed to be discussed here, for reference it's not to gain apps for free or anything dodgy - just to use the reply to text from locked screen and the ability to turn on and off BT from the swipe app thing!

Thanks for the tips, I think I will give it a go as I'm worried that something dodge has made it on to my phone

Mods, if this is not meant to be discussed, please lock thread.

I remembered talking about it back when I had my iPhone and I was told it wasn't allowed - Regardless hope you get it sorted. :)

I'm pretty sure it is allowed to be discussed on here :) There was a big thread recently over in the Apple sub-forum about it.

My advice is to ask in that forum anyway, not many iPhone users venture into the Mobile Phone forum :p

This just sounds like someone cracked your email password and used a spambot to send it to your contacts and has nothing to do with your phone.
