jailbreaking 3GS

Hi

I have a jailbroken 3GS, 3.1.3 with 05.12.01 BB

I have been looking around for a couple of hours and am now in knots, i cant work out how to update my phone to 4.0/4.1 or 4.2 OS without updating the BB

I want to use the new OS4, please help if you know the route to updating the above without losing the JB.

Use pwnage tool. You then need to search for the 4.1 ipsw and create a custom ipsw with that, then enter dfu mode and restore it but using the custom ipsw.

I'm sure more detailed instructions will follow

Also, out of interest, does updating the baseband bother you? Are you currently using ultrasn0w or something and require a carrier unlock?

I dont now if im honest lol, I just keep reading that updating the Base band stops jailbreaking?

I am running Windows but have a a MAC emulator running.

Updating the baseband prevents carrier unlock, you can still JB 4.1 regardless of baseband.

Cheers fella's, i tryed the above and managed to lockup my phone, so i ended up doing an offical restore in iTunes, then re jailbreaking with Limera1n.....winner. 4.1(8B117)

Perfect. Yep. Limerain or greenpoison are great if you don't want to preserve baseband which after my
Post realised you didn't. Those were the next suggestion. Enjoy!
