Never been for a JF meal but going next week . Love India curry but wary of goat? Any recommendation what to try at all or if there is a good JF that is recommended in Essex let me know .

I'd have beef stew and bean stew with rice and pea, but that's my favourite.

Try something new though mate don't just go for something familiar/safe. Goat would be lovely. Also have a try of plantain in a savoury dish.

There's a Jamaican stall near work, had a few things from there, their Goat curry was good but you have to expect big bones, they just cut through the ribs cook the lot and suck out the marrow bone.

Cows foot stew ?
Ital Stew ?

Will deffo go for the goat , and apparently they do a salt fish starter . Looking for to it !

Cows foot stew - would try it, sounds pretty good to me.

Like most of Jamaica's signature dishes, cow foot stew was created during the days of slavery. The consumption of feet in the Caribbean was widespread during the 1600s, when plantation owners would take the "best" parts of an animal for themselves and leave the fifth quarter - head, feet, tail, internal organs and skin - for the slaves.

These cuts have less flesh and more bone than other parts of the animal, but within the marrow is where the flavour lies - as many cooks know, there's a richness and depth that only bones can bring to a dish. Bone marrow is one of humanity's first super foods, eaten by our early ancestors and full of protein, calcium, phosphate and magnesium. Cow foot stew is also revered as an aphrodisiac and recommended as a hangover cure.

Ital is just a Jamaican dietry group and just happens to be vegetarian, so it is a vegetarian stew... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ital

If its good why not share where it is for everyone?

A Caribbean restaurant opened in a town near me recently, had takeaway from there once and it was reasonable.

Mmmm anything jerk.

I love a scotch bonnet goat curry. Using nagas as well makes it fruity as anything. Awesome. Don't think I've ever seen goat over here. I'd love to get some mind.

when you get a lump of the pork fat that's sort of half turned to crackling but still has the soft juicy bit and all that jerk flavour, I'm dribbling :D

I had goat curry/curry goat in Jamaica probably getting on for 20 years ago now. Tasty from what I remember but bonier that a witches ***!

Goat is nice but it has way too many bones in it. I prefer mutton.
My stepdad is from Guyana and I get to eat some great carribean food as often as I visit my mum!
Curry goat, saltfish fritters, pepperpot, macaroni, rice and peas, jerk chicken....YUM!!

I would bet that most curry goat meals is made in this country use actual mutton meat which you can get from your local halal meat shop.
