James Cameron's Avatar: The Game Demo

Watched it being played at i38, didn't look all that entertaining to me if I am honest, call it a 3rd person Crysis with worse graphics and RPG elements.
 

it actually doesnt look to bad and its nice to see PC instructions onscreen and not stupid xbox icons ! .. yes its the small things that please ;)

gameplay looks like Lost Planet with brighter graphics that arent too shabby also.,grabbing demo ..
 
got the demo to run in dx10 maxed out and it looks quite superb, very fluid and lush graphics, only problem is the sound has gone although that might be due to the odd error during install.

re-downloading the demo zip and will try again..
 
this demo + 3d vision is one of the most insane gaming experiences i've ever had, graphically that is

the 3d completely blows me away
 
Had to say this is the best looking game I've ever played the forest makes crysis/warhead ...look like a desert it even runs well om my old system mumsy plays on with a ati 1900 and still looks stunning on it..
P.S Eek fek my download system has a creative SB0770 which is hooked up to creative s750 speakers via a creative ddts100 decoder using optical I also get no sound on that system...
Don't watch video's guys download the demo and give it a go !

mine ran perfectly in xp(no sound problems to the guy who asked)
plays very smooth for the quality of the graphics...gameplay isnt bad either.

If I recall correctly its running on the Dunia Engine (FarCry 2) which was pretty scaleable. I was one of the few who graphically enjoyed FarCry 2 and this looks to be no different :) (in terms of enjoyment, not of a brown palette).

I did play the demo but not sure what else it might offer, did anyone eventually buy this game & is it any good ,worth a shot?
 
Whats the actual game like as a whole? read some pritty awful reviews to say the least! I am willing to give it a chance though. :D
 
This runs on the Far Cry 2 engine? Brilliant! Loved that engine and th game does look gorgeous from those videos.

Guys, I played the PC demo then rented it on the xbox and completed one of the two story paths. It's pretty dire. The controls never felt quite right, the combat is loose and floaty, the enemies are daft as a post and there's almost zero variation throughout the game.

It's a standard movie tie-in, basically.

On the other hand it decently captures the visual style of the movie and does well to fill in some backstory and other little details with codex entries. 3D stereoscopy is very well implemented too so if you see it for a couple of quid sometime down the line it's probably worth a punt just as a tech demo.
