James Whale

He's been broadcasting a long time, I remember listening to him back in my schooldays! :o

Surely that can't have a great prognosis :(

Such a hateful disease. My old neighbour (similar age) had similar but liver instead of kidneys - for a few years he was just a shadow of himself but has beaten it so far - last I saw him was looking much better.

I remember when he was on tv back in the day pushing some boundaries... then next time I heard him on the original Talk Radio (now Talk Sport).. and more recently on the new Talk Radio.

He always comes across as a humble and intelligent person.

We used to watch the James Whale Radio Show religiously on a Friday night, and just thinking back to that show it was cancer that took Frank Sidebottom too.

One of the rare radio shows still worth listening to, I've loved him (and Ash) since the original Talk Radio days. He seems to be a lot better than a few weeks ago, before he knew what was wrong with him. Get well soon James!

sad to hear this. I always remember to listening into his late night radio show on Radio Aire in the 80s when I was a kid.

I lived in Swindon for a couple of years back in the late 80s and that's where I got to like his style and tone (his voice is one of those 'made for radio' voices like Wogan or Ken Bruce). His show must have been syndicated for local commercial radio... think I was listening to GWR.

It's a shame that it's only news of his illness that's brought him back onto my radar, but fingers crossed he'll be one of the lucky ones and he'll be back on TalkRadio and my radio 'soon'.
