hi everyone

do you think there will be many january sales going on in the pc hardware world im really itching to order my new build but im holding off in the hope of some good deals if there is any? i havent really looked at pc hardware for january sales before was there any good deals last year?

oh and its a week early but who cares

Merry Christmas everyone :D

Doubt they'll be mega discounts, but rumours say the new AMD cards will be out before 10th of Jan, so hold off on the GPU at least :)

im not looking for a AMD card i prefer Nvidia plus i dont want to pay a premium for them id rather wait till kepler comes out although im going to get a gtx 580 to tie myself over for a while

Tricky one isn't it. What with all the offers on at the moment (MSI Z68 mobo and Kingston ram spring to mind) you are hard pressed to decide on what to do.

To be honest like many have said on here, waiting is a mugs game as there will always, no matter what be other offers further down the pipeline and it's hard if not impossible to predict what and when will be on offer and if it's worth holding out (even if it's a month or so).

I have a 6 year old rig and I've been debating now for the past week whether to go down SB route. Got to be an improvement over LGA 775 :)

im on LGA 775 atm and im going x79 route and yess you can wait forever as in a few months time somthing else will be cheaper and better only reason ive waited this long is to save the money but now im this close im wondering is it worth it waiting out a another week or 2 for jan sales and if there isnt any then i will just but then anyway but i really want a new system now :D

Mate I can so relate to your thinking. I have bought all my family (including 2 nieces and a nephew) all their xmas prezzies and yeah don't get me wrong I like crimbo but after shave and socks......you know the score.

I want to buy myself a new rig and wrap all the bits up and then unwrap them xmas day (yes that sounds completely sad). Be like being 5 years old again when you walk in the room and there's 8 boxes waiting for you. God the nostalgia.

Just want to be excited again for one day :)

thats exactly how i feel when i think bout building a new system i havent built a gaming rig in years i like to make them last hence why i will be going x79 and then not doing a major upgrade till another 5years (except graphics card) and i really cant wait till newyear when i order it (if i dont give in to my urge of ordering it before :))

i think im going to wait at least till after next sunday and see what the prices are like and see how much stock on certain thing are as i dont want to wait and then find out they have run out of the stock i want and then wit another few weeks for the stock to come in esp as ive booked the 1st week off in jan to build it and play on some new games bought skyrim the other day for £19 from game :D and i might buy new starwars game lol

Fair enough mate. If you are interested, please check my post in "General Hardware" section. Will give you an idea of the system I'm thinking of building. The experts will no doubt give me some feedback and they give sound advice.

yes just looked at it and it looks good id maybe go with the slightly bigger psy like have have on the second option just in case u wanted to go sli in future on the 1st option but thats just me im no expert lol
