anyone with an ounce of sense.

seriously one thing i will say about souness in prasie is that I dont think he has bought a dud. Luque is the only one I'm not sire about but thats only cos i aint seen him play very much.

emre
parker
owen
solano

are all very good signings, if someone can actually get the team to play I dont think newcastle would have a problem.

boumsong, faye, babayaro? theres 3 dudes. and moore, no one has seen him. :o

yeah, theres Robinho + Baptista as well..
And them. Forgot about them. :)

Top of his game. Cassano is significantly better than both Robinho & Baptista.
At the moment, when Raul & Ronaldo are on form, they are better, but given playing time, he has the potential to become one of the best, and surpass those two. Unfortunatelly, i cant see him getting the playing time at Madrid.

Yeah iirc Raul is out injured for quite a while, so they might slot him in straight away.

I heard that its only a few weeks now for Raul? & Ronaldo is out for a few games at most.

Ah he damaged his knee ligaments late november.

The Spanish international underwent tests on the injury on Monday and scans have shown the forward suffered a partial tear of the cruciate ligament in his left knee and also damaged the cartilage.

so yeah i think he should be back in a few weeks indeed.

Thats the same injury ive got. The difference is that he gets to goto surgery within a few days. Unlike me who waited a year and a half. :( (and its still not right!).

Anyway. I hope Cassano gets the time he needs to impress. I'd like to see things start going good for him.

With all due respect Sir I shall dismiss that bit as pap. :p

Emre has looked good in the SIX games he's played since arriving.
Owen is proven quality but we would have signed him no matter who the manager , he was a Shepherd and Shearer buy.
Parker has been a class apart - granted.
Solano , again proven quality we should never have sold - cheers Bobby.

What about the others?
Babbayaro - a joke and utter disgrace to his profession.
Boumsong - £8.5m!!!! , yes Eight and a half million pounds!!
Faye - What the hell he's doing in the premier league is beyond me.
Dyer - Souness extended his contract to £80k a week , hes played 2 and a half games since.
Craig Moore - has never even been named as a sub yet , injured when he signed and has never been fit , sacked by his former club for turning up at training drunk.
Luque - £9.5m , looks absolute horseplop a fish out of water (but I hope Im wrong)
Elliott and Clarke - Decent pros but both in their mid to late 30's , both were sold by the club TEN years ago because they weren't good enough.

I rest my case m'lud. :)

Sam's your man.......he would do a significantly better job than Souness, and at a third of the cost, much as I respect his playing ability, his managerial one hasn't exactly been sparkling has it?

Would Souness get another job if he got the axe?

Unlikely.
Given todays sky interview he needs institutionalised.
Seems we have hit a bit of timewarp in the forums today , must be something to do with an imbalance in the force.
I bet Darth Sideous is behind all this , its either him or the worst moderator on the whole of the internet (you know who you are ;) )
I'll post more on the souness saga tomorrow , bit drunk tonight.

Two rumours that stuck out for me this morning

Everton defender Per Kroldrup could return to Italy after struggling to settle in England. (Mail)

Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Italy striker Christian Vieri on a short-term deal for the rest of the season. (Mirror)
