January Transfer Rumours

Evra deal is done :D

we now have one of the best defences in the world :D and with RvN/Rooney a great forward line. Now we need 3 decent midfielders and we will get back to the very top.

Got any links to it being completed? BBC makes it sound like it'll be finalised next week.

I wonder if Evra or Heinze would be able to play on the right as a replacement for Neville since i imagine he'll go in a season or 2. WOuld be a shame for to bench either of them.

Anyone know if Vidic will play tomorrow?

Schwarzer has put in a transfer request which has been accepted.

Apparently been linked with Arsenal, not sure he's what we need. Don't think he's any better than Lehmann tbh.

Agree with you Cliffy about it being a bit quiet. Hopefully Arsene has something up his sleeve. Trouble is, we were all thinking that at the beginning of the season and nothing really materialised :(

Schwarzer's a far better keeper then Lehmann tbh.

But he's had a poor season this year and his confidence is clearly at a low point. Will be a shame to see him leave as he has been a solid keeper for us for nearly ten years. Hope we have someone lined up before we do sell mind.

Remember a few seasons ago, out of the blue Reyes joined. No rumours etc. There's no reason why that can't happen again.

Jens is a better Keeper than Schwarzer. He's a good keeper don't get me wrong, but he makes too many silly mistakes. Jens has been on top form this season. I would however like to see Given come in, in the summer.

Diarra is the only other name I've seen Arsenal linked with properly so far. Former Liverpool signing under Houllier, but don't hold that against him, he's come along a fair bit since then. First teamer at Lens, plays in midfield, and has a handful of caps for France. Since he's at Lens he's available for Champs League duty, and he's apparently a pretty physical player (6ft 3in, and has 7 yellows and 1 red already this season), so he could be just what we need. :)

Agreed about Lehmann, I can't remember him doing anything particularly stupid this season his temperament has been better too iirc.
Didn't he have a couple of comedy moments with his kicking the other day?
v Man.U. I think it was, definitely a recent live game:)

Didn't play a competitive game for us, he might have played in a couple of friendlies. IIRC he went on loan a few different clubs and got good

Certainly had less comedy moments this season than Cech :p His kicking was poor towards the end of the game, and it was in the Wigan game, but other than that he's been spot on.

The other problem I see with Schwarzer is that he's an Aussie. Meaning that he might have to play games the other side of the World, and the Keeper is one player you don't want to constantly keep switching.

Schwarzer is garbage, if it's on the floor he's knackered and he flaps at crosses. I've said for years that he's the most over-rated keeper in the Premiership. Problem for Boro is, Jones doesn't look much better, he flaps too.

Errr.....nah. ;)

A better defence that before, but one of the worlds best? Hardly.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Juve, (when fit) Milan, Inter, BMunich are just a handful of teams that will still have a better defence.
Next season, the only team your likely to 'overtake' in that regard is Milan unless Braida & Galliani pull their fingers out.

---------

Possible rumors/transfers:
Vieri to Spurs for free.
Vieri + cash to Atletico Madrid for Torres.
Cafu + money for Lugano.
Oddo to Milan.

You'll certainly have a lot of decent defenders, doesnt necessarily make a good defence though, will be interesting to see how they come together though
