January Transfer Rumours

I think this Walcott signing good turn out to be a good deal for us, only £5mill upfront and I'd trust Wenger's judgement on him and if he thinks he is worth the money then I don't have a problem with it. With the foreign players you can never be sure if they will settle but that shouldn't be a problem with him

Good enough for the reserve team though eh :p ;)

Well, he certainly wouldn't get into my first choice reserve team because we have so many better players in his position, but I thought an edit was in order because Arsenal tend to operate their reserve team differently, playing a lot of youth players.

Wenger has said he will play in the first team this season. I expect he'll be on the bench and if we are a few goals clear he will come on. I think it's more about the experience for him this season. Let's not forget Cesc started playing regularly at 17 so his age won't be a barrier. I expect he will play on the right too, for at least this season.

Just heard on sky that West Ham have signed Ashton for £7m.
I think he's a fine player , would liked to have seen him at NUFC in place of Shearer.

Yea, as a Norwich fan I think he had to go. He obviously wanted to and therefore if kept at the club wouldn't have given his all.

I and most fans will be a little annoyed at the method in which we've been fed false information though. He's missed the last two matches (one a cup game with West Ham!!) as he's had a "groin strain" - more likely the deal was already well on the way to being done and they didn't potentially want one of "their" players scoring a winning goal against them or something!.

a move to the prem was necessary for ashton - he still could get into the england worcld cup squad - he is good in the air and no other striker is like him really other than kevin davies and ashton has better ability than him. price is steep but not bad as he is young and has already shown he can do it in the premiership

Alan Curbishley is re-assembling Ipswich in the premiership... 5 first 11 players are now former Ipswich team-mates from the last 3 years. Now all he needs to sign is bramble, wright and dyer and I will buy a season ticket and start supporting them!

He's not getting to the World Cup. Not unless everyone else dies.

Couldn't agree more. It would have to be a repeat of the Munich disaster for him to get a place in the Squad.

He has Crouch, D. Bent, D. Vassell and probably M. Bent, M Harewood and A. Johnson infront of him aswell as the big guns of Rooney and Owen. Hell, I think T. Sheringham would stand a better chance at this moment in time.

He has potential, though £7m is a bit of a joke.

Odd, if he bought Bramble, Wright and Dyer I know many Addicks who will get rid of their season tickets.

I guarantee, that come the next Euros, asuming WH dont get relegated before then, that Ashton will be 3rd choice striker for England.

We'll see wont we.
If he's playing in the EPL for the next 2 years or so, he will be in the England squad for Euro08.

bold claim, we'll see how he develops, cant see him overtaking defoe or crouch at the mo. Cant have too much choice though (unless you have a sweedish ****** picking the team)! I hope your right, can only be good.

Assuming Rooney and the others get a mysterious disease which confines them to wheelchairs?
