Story was Sporting wanted €80m and United didn’t want to pay it. Not sure I’d pay that either tbh. The Portuguese league is poor with three teams sharing the championship for decades as well as signing shedloads of Brazilians and getting them joint Portuguese and Brazilian citizenship while they’re there. Makes them easier to sell on.

Ok, so you don't post every crap rumour just some of them but the question still stands. Do you watch all these stupid videos and pay any attention to these nonsense transfer stories you're always posting? I honestly cannot remember you posting anytihng relating to a semi sensible story, it's always these click bait stories and videos.

My feeling exactly. Shows how far we've fallen when we're being linked to Watford and Leicester rejects, one of whom is a mercenary who moved to China for a payday and the other only managed to average one goal every four games in the Premier League. It's yet more evidence of the mismanagement of the club, that we were willing to let Lukaku go in the summer without replacing him, thereby gambling that Rashford and Martial wouldn't get injured this season.
 
I really just want to sit in a corner and cry. For someone born in 1986 I am used to total domination. Being a "normal" mid table team is too much for me to take anymore!

People say we miss Ferguson. David Gill is just as much of a miss!

I could happily be a mid table team for a few years if it meant that we actually had a positive trajectory and played good football. I want to be entertained. I don't care that much about trophies. It doesn't affect my life when United win a trophy but I watch enough of our games that the main thing I want is to enjoy the football I watch.

Honestly, I have enjoyed some of the football under Ole more than most of the past 6 years but thats more of a reflection of the turgid stuff of the previous managers. The problem is that when we play well its a freak occurrence that doesn't signify anything but an alignment of the planets. Opposition being a bit crap, our front 3 being fit and on form and the rest of the team playing reasonably well. 2 good performances might come 6 weeks apart and have nothing to do with our coaching.

We're not going to sign anyone of note this window and we are going to slip down the table until the likes of McTominay and Pogba are fit again. Rashford is a big loss but only because he was covering up the massive issues in midfield we are having. Without him those issues are crippling. With a half decent midfield of McTominay, Pogba and Fred we would at least give our attackers something to work with.
 
Surely Fergie and Gill need to take their share of the blame for the mess that Utd are now in, on both a football and boardroom level. Despite wanting to put forward the idea that he was some sort of socialist, Fergie didn't just stand back and watch the Glazers rape Utd, he openly supported them. Most probably because they gave him total control of the football side of things and because they weren't Magnier and Mcmanus, the other party that were interested in buying the club and who Fergie had a big fall out with, which lead to them asking questions about some of the shady goings on at the club. You then had Gill who overnight went from being completely against the Glazer's takeover to backing them to the hilt - this obviously had nothing to do with the consistent pay rises the Glazers gave him.

And while things from a football pov have certainly got a lot worse, a lot quicker than they should have, Moyes and Woodward were hardly left with the best foundation to build from in 2013. The spine of the side from the year before were all players in their final years and in the case of Ferdinand, Rooney and RvP, they were all players that weren't going to age well due to the number of injuries they had in their career or in Rooney's case, the way he looked after himself. Again, they shouldn't have nosedived quite like they did but there was clearly a rebuild that needed to happen if Utd were to stay competitive.

Oh Fergie left United in a bit of a mess and it was a minor miracle that he had managed to stay at or near the top for the previous few seasons. Our spending was nowhere near Chelsea and City and we hadn't had a top quality midfield in years.

That being said, you don't go from winning the league to where we were with Moyes in 12 months. He was just a total mess of an appointment.

I assume Fergie supported the Glazers because he was given control of most of the footballing matters and was probably promised investment which never came until after he left. I love Fergie for all the years he gave us but I'm under no illusions that he was punching above his weight for years before his retirement. Thats what good managers do though.
 
I did say that Utd shouldn't have nose dived quite like they did or as quickly as they did tbf. It might not be something some Utd fans want to admit but Fergie put himself before the club when it came to the Glazers and their ownership (if you ask Roy Keane then he'll say this wasn't an isolated instance either) and had he and Gill not been quite so supportive then maybe Utd fans green and gold campaign would have been more successful.
 
Apparently Pablo Mari from Flamengo to Arsenal is a done deal (video of him arriving in Heathrow with Edu). CB which is certainly what's needed, let's hope it's Martinelli-esque as far as value for money goes. He was a City player for a few years but was only ever out on loan.
