January Transfer Window 21/22

Just read that we'll pay the initial £37.5m in installments of 12.5m over 3 years, should leave funds available for the summer window and hopefully Bellingham ;)

So we are signing Diaz who by all accounts is Columbias best player for a fraction more then Adama "no end product" Traore is going to Barca? This new fella whos taking over from Edwards seems to be alright...

That's a bit of a rubbish comparison. We're signing Dias for €45m + €15m in add-ons. Traore is going on loan with an option to purchase for €30m + add-ons (who knows how much) and I'd be amazed if that purchase option was triggered by Barca.

37m for Diaz is great business imo, even more so when broken down over 3 years. If thats the deal then thats an incredible piece of transfer negotiating.

I suppose only time will tell whether it is or isn't. Barring some YouTube clips and the games vs us I've not seen enough of him to say.

Well yeah, I mean that goes for every transfer really. After all some folks said the fee for Jota was too much yet looked at how that turned out, some even said the fee for Allison was too much but thats proved to be a snip. Imo, Diaz is definitely worth more than 37m, especially for someone with 2.5 years left on his current contract and a 67m release clause. Someone like him, for less than we paid for Keita and 2m more than we paid for Oxlade Chamberlain is, on paper at least, a terrific piece of business. Time will tell of course, as it does for every transfer at every club ever. But I'm feeling extremely positive about the deal.

Well if he turns out to be successful then the fee will be closer to £50m as his add-ons will kick in. I hope we end up having to pay them though.
