Caporegime
Newcastle are clapped tbf, wouldn't surprise me if Howe brings in a load of 30 odd-year-old ex Bournemouth lads who were conceding 50-60 a season at this level.
Trippier is OK, his set pieces alone should help.
If they're relegated it will set them back years, promotion is far from a guarantee, although the money will obviously help a lot.
They shouldn't be signing lots of players for the sake of it. They'd be better off throwing big money at 2-3 players who can make a serious difference.
Pogba for £50m, Lingard for £20m, AWB for £30m and Ronaldo for £60m. That should keep them up.

I was thinking more Lingard, Ramsey and a decent defender. Honestly Nat Phillips would be a decent signing. Not afraid to put his head where it hurts and no nonsense.Pogba for £50m, Lingard for £20m, AWB for £30m and Ronaldo for £60m. That should keep them up.

Are we going to get this nonsense everytime someone criticises a Newcastle signing?
He will be on silly money and is alright a player. Hes signed for the coin...not ideal.
Signing aging players who only come for the money rarely works out though. It's not just the QPR situation but look at when Utd offered Sanchez a blank cheque to persuade him to turn down City. There's so many other instances like this too and not just new signings but aging players after a new contract - look at Ozil or Auba at Arsenal. They play well, get that final big contract and then turn to ****.The problem right now is our league position. We're desperate for better players than we have and Trippier fits the bill.
We'll only attract two types of players this window:
1. Those that are of similar level to us
2. better players who want cash
Everyone knows we're rich and within FFP, so will try to take their pound of flesh. Lots of clubs over the years have overspent on players in January, this time around it'll be no different.

Surely there's a 21-24 year old RB out there that's at least as good as Trippier, who has something to prove or play for beyond topping their pension up. Even if he'll cost a few £m more than Trippier, at least you're getting somebody for more than today and won't be left lumbered with in years to come.
Who knows, maybe Trippier isn't in it purely for the money and wants to return to England but it does feel very much like he's joining for that final big contract that he was never getting from anywhere else.
Reportedly 250k a week plus add ons.£12m for Trippier is a great bit of business as long as its a 2 year contract and he isn't earning more than £100k/week.

Well he's either on a super wage or has a get out clause or both, why else would he take it?
