Jap imported Cayenne??

Im going to look at this next week. Its a Jap import


I plan to export when I move to Cyprus but im struggling to decide if its good value and if there any pitfalls of a jap import? its a decent spec.

Any thoughts?
 
Get a UK one? It's not a weird and wonderful japanese market only car. Why would you even contemplate it when cayennnes are plenty on auto trader.
 
this is true, the price does somewhat reflect the fact that its a Jap import and the spec is decent but I can always hold out until something as good pops up as im in no rush
 
Got to love the £44k prestige car but only a handful of average pics from a field in Abingdon.

What's the warranty situation with JP imports and porsche?

I wouldn't get a JP import unless it was for something you couldn't get elsewhere (like the Honda Integra)... there's literally no need and will just cause you headaches

I think euro cars are good value from Japan at the moment and tend to be a high spec.

Whether you are keeping it in the UK or take it or any UK car to Cyprus you're likely going to lose out of getting a warranty, which you likely want with a car like this. So the main question is, do you want it enough to front all the cost of keeping it on the road? If so, go for it.

To be fair some cars like GTIs can be considerably cheaper such as 2014 models due to import and tax costs in japan. But I have to admit I'm rather suspicious of car this old and value being imported in so early.
 
Seeing a lot of this recently. Mundane German cars being imported and sold. What's the point.
Yah about £50k with the sepc, this was offered at £42k which seemed like good value until you find out its had a knock and its due a major service.
 
If you do decide to go for an imported car, grab the VIN and check the auction history, pay the extra for translation of the auction sheets. Grade R = Repaired, the higher the grade the better the condition, some auction houses have better reputation than others.

Avoid imports from Birmingham/Coventry and few Irish dealers - dodgy is an understatement.. :p I'm speaking from my own experience.

I avoid going to Birmingham/Coventry, London and Luton when I see a car. 99.99% of the time its a waste of time..

I did buy a car sight unseen from Birmingham though, but.. My friends uncle went to view it, he has some mechanical knowledge and isn't one to be fooled. Managed to get a bargain :D This is one of those 00.01% situations.
 
Most of them are in considerably better condition than uk cars for the age. And some have options we didn't get.

Aren't JDM cars famous for having no corrosion protection or something? @grudas what's your take on this?

As for the options, that goes both ways, they might also be missing loads of options that we do get.

Same protection as uk cars and German cars are built the same as they’re here in uk the only difference is that Japan often had options we didn’t or engines we didn’t get. I looked at a cls350 from Japan as it had the petrol v6 whereas in uk we never got that. I think Japanese also like their colour a bit more so you get some interesting combos.

Rust wise it’s simply the fact that many parts of japan don’t use salt on the roads so the cars never rust as much. My 20 year old Toyota crown for example was rust free to a point that bolt threads were as new on the side and had the factory “paint” marker marks everywhere. At 140k km that is.

But parts of Japan that get a lot of snow etc can also have rusty cars.. I’ve seen some proper rusty ones.
