Japan Holiday!

Try some Ramen (pot noodle, but actually decent in a restaurant), try some real Sushi (the stuff u get at tesco is nowhere near), and definitely try some Sashimi:

Looks good enough to eat :p

I'm going there sometime, just to eat the food :D I'm a big fan tho, and envy you :p

Mmmmm ... Ramen and Sushi ....

Wow, thank you everyone for the advice, its really useful, I didnt realise I'd get so many responses!

Did I miss the post where you said what parts you're going to?

I went to Osaka and Tokyo last year. In Osaka at the very least you want to go to Osaka Castle, Universal Studios (iirc it's the only place you can go on the Back to the Future ride now) and the Osaka Aquarium. In Tokyo you want to go to Shinjuku (nice shops and amazing building views, as well as good restaurants) and Akihabra for electrical goodness. If you're in Shinjuku you absoloutley have to go for dinner at The Lockup.

As said earlier consoles and the like tend to be cheaper in Japan. The second hand camera shops are very good too.

Also if you plan on doing lots of traveling while you're out there then a Japan Rail Pass is a must.

edit:

Almost forgot about Harajuku in Tokyo. That's another must. You'll get to see Harajuku Girls walking around, some very cool stores (e.g. clothes and costumes) and in paticular Kiddy Land. Condomania looks pretty cool from the outside as well.

Tokyo is great, I went there for two weeks this time last year and had a great time.

The food is amazing, as said before for electronics visit Akihabara and some of the large shops there, they sell absoluetely everything in electronics , the whole range ! One shop that stood out I think was called Yodobashi camera.
