Looking for some suggestions on some great Japanese action films prefable simular to John Woo style Hard boiled,Killer etc.

Have you seen Battle Royale? Where a bunch of high school kids are put on an island in the future and have to kill each other to survive using any weapons they find plus guns etc.. awesome.

You seen much of Kitano's stuff? Not really in the Woo mould, but some good action flicks amongst his more contemplative oeuvre. Zatoichi, Violent Cop, Brother may be particularly what you're looking for.

Then there's Miike. Some oddball stuff in his catalogue, but some pretty dandy action work too. I like Ichi the Killer in particular.

Sympathy for the Underdog is a nice dose of yakuza action from the 1970s as well.

That's just off the top of my head. Will try to find a minute to look through my collection for more recommendations.
