Ok not totally pc related but read this and thought id get some opinions.

No suprise the 360 didnt do well in japan as they dont care much for western games and never have really. The Japanese gaming industry is maybe at its lowest point in my life time though and they're devs dont really seem to be setting the world on fire with anything these days. Does anybody care about games from Japan these days? console or pc..

Yes. There's still plenty of Japanese titles I'm looking forward too. Mostly on consoles though.

The Xbox was never going to be a big hitter in Japan compared to the Nintendo and Sony offerings, so it's not exactly shocking news to me.

wasnt a shock to me either as the original xbox done awful. Just prompted my thinking to the state of the industry there really

I enjoy a few japanese developed games, quite a bit actually. A few more than Western developed ones.

And for the record, the 360 and its games have never really impressed me.

Pity we don't get very many Japanese titles on the PC. What happened to Final Fantasy!? the last one to be released for the PC was VIII I think.

Anyway, Phantasy Star Online 2 might be decent. Not sure how it'll compare to modern mmo's like Guild Wars 2 though.

The best J game to come out on PC in recent years is The Last Remnant. Playing it at the moment and I would honestly say it blows games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect out of the water.

I bought a japanese xbox purely for the games made by cave.
Wish they were on the pc instead, would have saved myself a lot of money. Still worth every penny :D

Curious, I love those latter two (except DA2), so I'mma make a note to try The Last Remnant, thanks :)

Anyway, I've never been much for J games outside of MGS, FF, and classic Nintendo. That said, I'd absolutely ****ing LOVE to have FFVII and MGS1-3 re-made for PC, with updated graphics and optimised for modern systems. Ah well..

I used to love everything that Squaresoft made, but since the merger they've been dying a slow and painful death. The last few years have pretty much put the nail in the coffin.

Gaming seems to have changed so much over the last 10 years that I dont think we'll ever see the classic JRPG type games anymore, like we did in the PS1 days anyway.

Even classic Nintendo games like Mario and Zelda are getting tiresome for me... or I might just be getting old :p

The only games I look forward to now are from western developers. Games like Mass Effect, The Witcher, Elder Scrolls and the promising MMO The Old Republic. These are the only games that seem to interest me now.

Be prepared to put some time aside for it. Sunk nearly 50 hours into it an have barely scratched the surface. It has the complexity of an FF game an is very pretty. I recommend a comfy chair, HD TV and gamepad to properly enjoy it :p
